How To Use Your Debit Card Wisely

The function of both debit and credit card are somehow similar in term of use but debit cards allow you to withdraw cash directly from a checking account. In simple word we can say that by using debit card you spend money which you have already earned. By using debit card responsibly you will be able to avoid potential danger such as extra fees which might cost high for the user. Here are some of the tips to keep in mind:

1. As we know that by using debit card an individual can withdraw money that he has earned so it is important that the user should check his account balance regularly in order to avoid bank over draft facility. The reason behind it is that bank over drafting facility may cost him money.

2. In case if a person has lost his card, he needs to report immediately so that the respective service provider will cancel the card as soon as possible. This is because that it becomes complex to recover fraudulent debit card charges.

3. Always discard your old debit cards as it protects you and your card from being misused by wrong hands. Try to do this right after you receive new debit card as your card number usually remains same in both new and old.

4. Consider setting up pin number for your card as soon as you receive it and memorize it.  It has been advised to card holder that they should never write their pin number on their card.

5. Last but not the least, always keep your card at a safe place. Consider keeping it in the hidden locations whenever you are not using it and do not leave it where others can see. Be very careful when you are moving it from one location to another while you are travelling.
